COVID-19 Information & Updates

Rules last updated: 24th September 2020

The following rules must be adhered to by all members:
  • All players on court must be registered with the tennis club and have paid their annual subscription fee. Members may now bring guests to the club and each guest may visit up to 5 times a year. Membership must be notified of this in advance so that the guest's details are registered and payment must be made after the guest's visit. Members are responsible for informing their guest of the rules and procedures in place at the club.

  • From 14th September, the legal maximum number of people from different households that can meet is six people. No more than six people can meet up to play together on court. Players exceeding this number will be breaking the law.

  • From 22nd September session coordinators will be responsible for running club sessions. All members in attendance at club session must continue to maintain social distancing and adhere to the club rules.

  • The tennis court must have been booked via our online booking system and you must play only on the court booked. Members wishing to play on the wall at the club must book the court closest to the wall in order to do so.

  • For track and trace purposes all members when booking their court must enter in the booking system the names of the people they are playing with. Members attending club sessions are required to register their attendance in the orange book located in the clubhouse

  • The clubhouse is only open for toilet access and for operating the floodlights. A face covering must be worn when entering the clubhouse. All members must adhere to the clubhouse rules on display when entering.

  • Singles and doubles play is now permitted with people from outside of your household, as long as members remain 2 metres apart as far as possible – four people from different households can now play doubles. When playing doubles with different households, members should agree in advance which player will take the shot if a ball travels to the centre of the court. Players must remain within their group on court and must not mix in with players in other groups.

  • Players no longer need to use their own clearly marked tennis balls – however, if members choose to use shared balls then extra care must be taken to ensure they do not touch their face during play, and members should clean their hands before play and immediately after finishing (use alcohol gel if required);

  • Players should still avoid using their hands to pick up tennis balls from other courts where possible - use your racket/foot to return them

  • Members should bring hand sanitiser/wipes with them to the courts to apply when entering and leaving the tennis courts. Members should use alcohol gel after touching any court gates, fences and other equipment

  • Only if absolutely necessary should the winders on the nets be used. If doing so, please ensure that either gloves or hand sanitiser/wipes are used at all times.

  • Players should use their own rackets where possible. Where rackets are shared they must be thoroughly cleaned before and after use

  • Keep more than 2 metres away from the members of any other household who may be at the club at the same time as you.

  • Any persons at the club who are not participating in an activity on court must stand off court. Wherever possible there must be only one spectator for each player on court. Furthermore, spectators should be in groups of no more than six people and must continue to adhere to social distancing measures

  • When entering and exiting the tennis courts please be considerate of other players on site.

  • Please ensure the courts are locked if you are the last to leave

  • Members using the benches at the club do so at their own risk. Members must continue to adhere to social distancing and hand hygiene requirements when using the benches. All members must make sure that all their belongings are removed from court when exiting.

  • The usual rules apply with regard to supervision of Juniors. Yellow ball Juniors under 12 require adult supervision. Red/Orange/Green ball Juniors can only play with a parent who has ‘full’ or ‘parent’ membership with the club.
