Club Update & Plans

We have recently learnt that the Club has been successful in obtaining a substantial grant from the London Marathon Charitable Trust towards the installation costs of the floodlights. As such, we have finalised arrangements with our chosen contractor, LTL Floodlighting, who will install the floodlights at the end of August for completion by the middle of September.

We are also pleased to confirm that the Club has been awarded a grant by Englefield Green Village Residents Association which will allow us to buy some new court benches.

Following on from this, we also hope to resurface Courts 3 and 4 with Synthetic Grass later this year. Various surfaces have been looked into, and based on advice given by professionals, the Committee believes that synthetic grass is the best option for the Club at this point. Tiger Turf Advantage Pro is the most popular synthetic grass surface in the country and will provide a softer alternative to our existing macadam courts. We are awaiting the result of a grant application before we can proceed with this.

Once floodlights have been installed and Courts 3 and 4 resurfaced, our attentions will go to replacing the Club’s fencing and resurfacing Courts 5-8. In order to consult with us and learn more about our plans for the future, we would welcome as many members from across the Club to attend our AGM on Sunday 30th July at 5pm.

A reminder that Easy Fundraising is an excellent way of supporting the Club’s fundraising efforts with no cost attached, and we have raised over £50 already from this. You can sign up at

Junior Sponsored Rally – Update

Following last week’s update, the Club has now received £1433.82 in Sponsorship donations for the Junior Sponsored Rally, which will rise to £1678.87 with Gift Aid. A few sponsorship’s are still outstanding so we hope to break the £2000 mark! What an amazing effort by all of the juniors involved! We have been taken aback by the generosity and support shown to this event, so a big thank you to all!
The total cost of installing the floodlights is £21594. Thanks to the juniors who participated, the amount required is now below £20,000. We have submitted applications to several major sporting bodies to help us in this regard.
We would also like to make members aware of another fundraising initiative we are running, which is totally free for all members! When you buy anything online it may be possible to collect free donations for the Club. There are over 3000 shops including Amazon, John Lewis and Sainsbury’s where it is possible to do this.
All you have to do is:
1. Head to and join for free.
2. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first to find the site you want and start shopping.
3. After you’ve checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for no extra cost whatsoever!

There are no catches or hidden charges and the Club will be really grateful for your donations.

Thank you for your support.
The Committee

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Junior Sponsored Rally. We have raised over £600 so far. The sponsorship money recieved is greatly appreciated and will go straight into the Club’s Floodlights Fund.

Flood lighting planning permission – Successful!

Following approval of planning permission by Runnymede Borough Council in December for floodlights on Courts 1 and 2, the Club’s committee and fundraising team have been working hard on several fronts to obtain the funds needed to install them. 4 applications have been submitted to major sporting bodies and we hope to have decisions on these by early Summer. A big thank you to all the juniors who participated in the Junior Sponsored Rally as all the funds raised will go straight into the Club’s floodlight fund. We hope to reveal the final total raised soon!
